The Edo State Deputy governor, Philip Shaibu has officially declared his intention to contest for the 2024 governorship election under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party PDP, saying, that nothing can stop him. According to the deputy governor, in his statement, he made his declaration at the Biohop Kelly Centre, Benin City, on Monday morning.
Philip Shaibu said, as a home boy of the state who had feel the pains of the people, he is poised to develop the state. And also he said, he is unstoppable in the forthcoming 2024 election. He continue by saying he had worked with Governor Godwin Obaseki in the last seven years to lay the foundation for the development of Edo state.
The deputy governor Philip Shaibu called on the people to support him in actualizing his ambition of becoming the next governor of Edo state. The deputy governor Philip Shaibu who was billed to declare his governorship interest at the Eterno Hotel but the event was later cancelled at the last minute, saying Governor Obaseki had a programme for the venue at the same time. Obaseki and Shaibu had fallen out over the governorship bid.
The deputy governor who hails from Edo North Senatorial District had earlier reiterated his loyalty to Obaseki, who hails from Edo South, but insisted that he will contest for the poll.
However, Obaseki is believed to be rooting fora Lagos-based lawyer, Asue Ighodalo, who hails from Edo Central, as successor...!!
